Daily Devotionals On Hold For Now

A couple of people have told me that they’re starting to miss the devotionals I’ve been in the habit of posting here almost every day (at least until recently). I appreciate that encouragement, and I would like to address it.

I need to confess that I write these devotionals, mostly, for me. They are a part of my relationship with God and my way of staying in touch with Him. I make them public only because I realize the various struggles and joys I discuss in them are quite common and, therefore, might be an inspiration to others. It’s a great blessing that what turns out to be great therapy for me is also an opportunity for discipleship.

My lapse in posting the devotionals is probably only temporary, and I pray it is not a hindrance for others. I pray regular readers will return to God’s word, on their own, each day and rest assured that I will too. Though I’ve lately neglected writing, I still can be found with my nose — and spirit — in my Bible daily (usually several times a day), and I still encourage that glorious practice in others. It’s important we all make God’s word the guiding light of our lives. But, in a world in which God is too often an afterthought, staying connected to him requires daily diligence.

Ha! There is some irony here. As I say “God is too often an afterthought,” it occurs to me that helping fix that problem is the main reason I’ve not been writing the devotionals lately. For several weeks now I’ve been devoting most of my non-working, non-praying hours to building a new website devoted to that very trouble in our world. (About the only luxury I’ve allowed myself is tennis. What a great bunch of friends I’ve made on the courts this year!) God willing, I’ll be going public with the new site very soon. Stay tuned for the announcements!

Thanks be to God for another grand day by which to do His work.
