God’s Repetition Is A Glorious Thing

Today’s reading: Isaiah 44:1-5

I confess that I was not eager to log on and begin typing this post. I read today’s scripture and my thoughts were like those of a bratty teenager. “Yeah, yeah. Here we go again. God is wonderful and I promise to serve him always. How am I going to say that same ole’ thing again? How many more different ways am I going to have to say it?! No wonder no one else does a stupid blog like this!”

Then I checked the visitor stats for this site and saw that the  the numbers have been dropping a little in the last few days. That led my thoughts to all all the other, (non-religious) articles I’ve been working on but still haven’t finished. “You really need to get to work on those,” I told myself. “People are getting bored with all this God stuff every day.”

Then I remembered all the “paying” work that I have scheduled to do today, and I realized that I still haven’t set up that advertising program for this site, so that all these articles can, finally, become paying work too.

“You need to get on the stick, Don!” I heard several great friends and mentors screaming.

In answer to them, I almost decided that this time would be more wisely spent today working on other projects — ones that wouldn’t bore people, ones that would actually bring me money.

Yes, this section of my site almost died this morning.

Thanks be to God for coming through me (yes, I intentionally left out the word “for” that you were probably expecting to see. Neat affect huh?) yet again.

I am thankful for today’s reading after all. It is yet another edition of the eternal reminder that God is good and being His servant is the best that I can do — indeed it is the only thing that I should ever do.

I will rejoice again today, remembering these perfect springtime words from God: “For I will pour water upon him that is thirsty, and floods upon the dry ground. I will pour my spirit upon thy seed, and my blessings upon thine offspring.” (Verse 3)

The sun has risen yet again here in Corpus Christi, and outside my window some squirrels and cats are happily playing. Now a neighbor is smiling as she strolls to catch the bus for another day of work she has told me she truly enjoys.

It’s going to be another grand day on God’s Earth. Thanks be to God for that.
